As I was exiting the 145th subway station about an hour ago after my night shift at the restaurant, a man ran into me with his bike.

For those of you that don’t know, 145th sits on a bit of a hill, so he was going really, really fast when he hit me. I didn’t even see him coming until it was too late. I turned right to exit the stairs, and it was a whirl. All I saw was this dude barreling towards me going way too fast.

Needless to say I was knocked down. My head hit his shoulder or maybe his chest, I can’t be sure. My phone and the bottle of water I was carrying went flying onto the middle of the street. My head fucking hurts.

We had flurries earlier in the evening so the cement was wet with rain and slush and my jeans are muddy from being hit.

The dude didn’t even ask me if I was okay, he just took off. This couple, a man and a woman helped me up and walked with me to a Dunkin Donuts. “Get home safe,” the man said, holding the door open for me.

The wind got knocked out of me and I felt dizzy for a while. I bought another bottle of water and sat down in the DD just to regain my composure. I called my Mom.

It is funny, I guess. Maybe I just had a bad day or maybe I’m just exhausted because New York is fucking exhausting. What happened is funny and I can see the humor in it and maybe I’m just tired but I came home, got into dry clothes, ate a sandwich in the dark and now I am crying. I’m not sure why.

I just want someone that I love to be here with me right now.
